Lenny Hambro was an American jazz musician, born in 1923, who established himself as a versatile woodwind player, primarily on the alto saxophone. His professional career spanned multiple decades, from the early 1940s to the mid-1990s, during which he collaborated with numerous bands, orchestras, and prominent jazz figures. Hambro's early career began with Gene Krupa in 1942, marking the start of his journey in the jazz world.
As his career progressed, Hambro became closely associated with notable jazz ensembles and musicians, including the New Glenn Miller Orchestra under Ray McKinley's direction, where he served as manager and assistant band leader. He also gained recognition within the Latin Jazz community, particularly through his work with Chico O'Farrill. Beyond his performances, Hambro expanded his professional scope to include roles as a session musician, music producer, booking agent, and entertainment coordinator, demonstrating his multifaceted contributions to the music industry until his passing in 1995.
