Shalom Moskovitz

Shalom Moskovitz was a Jewish painter who spent most of his life in Safed, Israel. Born around 1887, he initially pursued a career as a watchmaker, a profession he maintained for the majority of his life. It was not until he reached the age of 55 that Moskovitz discovered his passion for painting, marking a significant turning point in his life.

As a Hasidic Jewish painter, Moskovitz's artwork was deeply rooted in his faith and cultural heritage. He became known as "artist Shalom of Safed," a name that reflects his connection to the city where he lived and worked. Although he began painting later in life, Moskovitz was able to cultivate a unique style and reputation, leaving a lasting impact on the artistic community. He passed away in 1980, at the age of approximately 93, leaving behind a legacy as a talented and devoted Jewish artist.
