Aharon Roth
Hungarian Hasidic rabbi (1894–1947)
Aharon Roth, also known as Reb Arele, was a prominent Hungarian Hasidic rabbi who played a significant role in the Jewish community. Born in 1894, he went on to become a respected Talmudic scholar and established a Hasidic community called Shomer Emunim in the 1920s in Satu Mare. He later relocated the community to Berehovo in the 1930s before eventually settling in Jerusalem, where he founded another community by the same name.
Roth's literary contributions include the two-volume work, Shomer Emunim, which he authored in 1942. This work was written in response to the devastating news of Nazi atrocities in Eastern Europe, showcasing his concern for the Jewish people during a tumultuous period. As a leader and scholar, Aharon Roth left a lasting impact on the Hasidic community, and his legacy continued until his passing in 1947. Through his establishment of Shomer Emunim communities and his written works, Roth demonstrated his dedication to his faith and the preservation of Jewish traditions.
