Jackie Tabick

Jackie Tabick is a pioneering figure in British Judaism, having made history as the country's first female rabbi in 1975. Born in 1948, she has dedicated her career to serving the Reform Jewish community. Her accomplishments have paved the way for future generations of women in the rabbinate, breaking down barriers and challenging traditional norms.
Throughout her distinguished career, Tabick has held several notable positions, including Rabbi of West Central Liberal Synagogue in London and Convenor of the Movement for Reform Judaism's Beit Din. She was the first woman to hold the latter role, demonstrating her commitment to advancing women's leadership in Jewish institutions. After many years of service, Tabick retired as Convenor of the Beit Din in 2023, marking the end of an era in her illustrious career. Prior to her retirement, she had also concluded her tenure as Rabbi of West Central Liberal Synagogue in 2022, when the synagogue closed its doors.
