Jacob Nasirov

Bukharian rabbi

Jacob Nasirov is a notable figure in the Jewish community, specifically among the Bukharian population. His family's roots trace back to Bukhara, but they relocated to Afghanistan in 1932. At a young age, Nasirov's family made the move to Israel, where he would eventually serve in the Israel Defense Forces. Following his military service and a brief period of work, Nasirov embarked on a path of spiritual leadership.

Nasirov's rabbinical career has been marked by his involvement with several prominent congregations. In 1980, he began serving as the hazan and rabbi of Anshei Shalom synagogue, a unique institution as the only Afghan-Jewish congregation in the United States. Currently, he holds the position of Rabbi at Congregation Bet-El - Sephardic Center of Jamaica Estates, located in Queens, New York. In addition to his work as a rabbi, Nasirov has also been involved in kosher certification for restaurants, although he is no longer active in this capacity. He resides in Jamaica Estates, Queens, and continues to play a significant role in the Jewish community.
